Sam Tempest

Sam is a passionate and versatile drummer and percussionist, with over ten years' experience performing with multiple ensembles and recording for various artists. Sam also tutors privately for the drums.

 

Since his early teens, Sam knew he had a passion for the drums and live performance. Sam began to take drum lessons at 13 with tutor Dave Benmore (The Itch), and soon after joined his first band in Lancashire. Within two or three years, Sam studied up to Grade 8 Rockschool, and was working with four different bands of multiple genres performing across the North West.

 

Sam studied at Leeds Arts University, achieving a first class degree in Popular Music Performance under the tutorage of Jason Huxtable (maraca2, Los Angeles Philharmonic). His passion for music content creation began during lockdown whilst studying, collating a series of drum covers and informative drum lessons for his social media channels.

 

Since graduating from Leeds Arts University, Sam performs nationally and internationally with wedding, function and original bands. Recent notable performance venues include the Malostranska Beseda (Prague), Boomtown Festival and Solfest (UK). Sam is confident with a wide variety of music genres which include, but are not limited to, rock, pop, jazz and funk. Sam also tutors from his home studio based in Leeds, which includes online sessions, and works as a freelance recording musician for original music projects.
